אמרי קודש · אהבת חברים
A house made holy through אהבת חברים
A published address of Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Horowitz from the 1930s places the beis medrash, friendship, and the presence of Hashem inside one shared idea.

A place set apart
The address begins with friends gathering לדבר מצוה and with the walls of a beis medrash set aside for holiness. A sacred place is formed by the purpose of those who enter it and by the bond among them.
אני ה׳
The teaching connects ואהבת לרעך כמוך with self-knowledge: a person who recognizes his own shortcomings and nevertheless cares for himself can learn to see another person with the same generosity. When Jews bind themselves together, the Divine Presence enters their fellowship.
The image used is a single body whose limbs have different tasks. No limb is unnecessary; wholeness depends on connection. The ציבור itself becomes a כלי מחזיק ברכה.
The old address inside the wider American record
Later work on the American volume places this Torah beside the congregation, officers, families, institutions, relief activity, photographs, and public documents of the Lower East Side. The old article gives the פנימיות of the kehilla; the 1948 journal and later archival research show the people and structures through which that ideal was lived.
