R’ Elimelech (Meilech) Fleischer
A communal worker remembered within Shendishov
R’ Meilech Fleischer appears in the community’s own publications not merely as a printed name, but as a person who remembered the earlier Shendishover court, spoke about its people, and helped carry its memory into the renewed life of the community.

A witness preserved in print
A biographical chapter on Rabbi Asher Lemel Horowitz cites R’ Elimelech Fleischer by name and preserves his account of the earlier Shendishover world. His testimony identifies people, describes conduct, and places remembered episodes inside the life of the town and the court.
Such testimony links a later American communal worker to the generation that still carried direct memory of Shendishov. It is one of the ways the history survived before a formal archive existed.

Memory as communal work
The memorial register describes R’ Meilech among the known communal workers of Shendishov. His place here rests on the combination of a named communal role and testimony preserved in the community’s publication.
Further photographs, dates and family information will be added only when identified from original records.
